This was a stopping service. However, it was also a night train with a combination of seated, sleeper, and mail coaches. This means frequent start-stops or even station calls interrupting passengers sleeping (if any). Passengers could ride the train in seated coaches paying only basic fare and in sleeper coaches paying a sleeper extra fare plus basic fare. Express extra fare was not needed since it was categorised as an "ordinary" service.
